What is a phink?

Phink refers to a photo that serves as a link to a remote Web site. Phinks also include a caption and may be freely copied to other Web sites as long as the link and alt tag is maintained on the photo.

How does phinker work?

Anyone can upload a photo with a link back to their own Web site. The photo must include a brief description or summary and a tag for classification. The person submitting the photo must have the rights or permission to use the photo.

You can submit as many photos as you like, linking to as many different pages as you like, as long as you have rights to the photo, or permission to post it and it is directly related to the specific page/url you are linking to. This means you can link to as many back pages in one site and as many sites as you wish.

Anyone can use the photos on phinker.com on their own Web sites as long as they comply with 2 conditions:

• The photo must be linked to site of the person who submitted the photo. (Just the photo, no text link is necessary.)
• The image 'alt' tag must be included with the tag from the photo.

What purpose does phinker serve?

Phinker serves the webmaster and blogging community in 2 ways:

• By improving search engine link popularity and visibility to participating Websites (as other webmasters and bloggers pick up phinks and place them on their own Web sites).
• By serving as a photo archive where bloggers and webmasters can find free photos for their pages and articles legally in an equally beneficial exchange.

What is a tag?

A tag is just a descriptive name for your phink. It also serves as the image alt text and anchor text linking to your Web site. Tags are unique.

What is the significance of the tag?

Since the tag is the text that will be used to link to your phink it can become very important once people begin placing your photo on their sites. Anchor text is very important to search engines, as it helps them identify what your site is about and will help you rank for certain keywords. Phinker also uses your tag (and caption) for searches, so be sure to include your most important keywords.

What is my secret word?

The secret word you enter is to prove the phink is yours in case you would like to change it or remove at a future time.

How do I change or remove a phink?

Just fill out the contact form requesting the change or removal including your "secret word". If you forget your secret word you can contact us and we arrange a way for you to prove you are the owner of the phink.

Why does my phink have such a low score?

All phinks start out with low scores and must be voted on to be brought up. If new phinks appear to have their score artificially inflated they will be removed.

What type of photos does phinker accept?

Phinker.com accepts all photos with the exception of photos including nudity, subjects related to or linking to hate sites, erotic sites or pharmaceutical and other spam related sites.

You can submit any other type of photo including high quality stock photos, personal photos, and news or blog related photos.

Be creative! Phinker is a tool you can use for your own benefit. Think about what kind of people will use your photos and for what types of blogs or sites and try to offer something that will get used and create many links back to your site.

What if I want to use a phink but I can't keep the link?

By using the phinks on this Web site you agree to abiding by the rules. If you would like to use a phink but cannot perserve the link you must contact the author (by following the URL included in the phink) and obtain permission.
